NOTE: “The Law Versus the Spirit of the Kingdom” is the above portion of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:17-48. Both the Greek and English texts were prepared by Ivan Panin at the beginning of the last century, based on his discovery of God’s Numeric phenomenon in both the Greek and Hebrew texts. His English text is his translation of this Greek text.

The New Covenant is in the Old Covenant contained – the Old Covenant is by the New explained. And – the same One who explains the fulfilling and updating of the Old Covenant in the Sermon on the Mount – is the same Angel of the Covenant who gave the Ten Commandments of the Old Covenant to Moses for Israel!

Did He in the New Covenant do away and destroy the Old Covenant? Of course not! He fulfilled the Old Covenant by updating it just as was promised by God through Jeremiah!

The time is coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 32It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD. 33 “This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Jeremiah 31:31-34 NIV)

As added confirmation to this, a friend wrote the following words – “Jim, I will join you in prayer Re Bill Gates. You are so right about the theme of Jesus’ message here. The wrong paradigm, however, will yield only the kind of religious talk and action that has been embraced by everyone from Emerson to Handy to Gates.”

I thought the Sermon on the Mount was well summed up in the Divine Conspiracy, when the author, Dallas Willard, paraphrased it as a message that did notsay, ‘Live like this in order to get a life.’ What Jesus was saying was: ‘Get a life (My life) in order to live like this!’” J.A.W.
